The history of Camp, Arkansas is a colorful one,
it was established in the 1800's, and the name came from the indian encampment on the trail of tears. The community
was a thriving place with two grocery stores, a barber shop, cotton gin, two doctors, a livery stable, a school
and post office. When the depression came, many of the young folks had to leave to seek employment other places and
most never came back, others died off and the town shrunk. The church building was across from the school,
which had about 60 students with two teachers. The church met with a Brother Bridges, when Bro. Bridges passed away the church
eventually closed the doors. The building was used for community events, also once a month a man came and showed movies. The
building was purchased by Mr. Southerland and torn down. A few years later a few of the brethren from Mammoth Spring
and Welcome Hill congregations, met on Sunday afternoon in the old school building for worship and bible study. In the
1950's a group of brethren from Mammoth Spring and Welcome Hill congregations came and with volenteer help, constructed
the building where it presently stands. The church at Camp has an attendence of 30-40. The building was made modern in 2000
with new outside and inside, carpet, bathrooms, well, new metal roof, and central heat and air. The history of the church
of Christ began in AD 33 at Jerusalem, by the authority of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is 59:1-2; Mt 28:18-20:Acts 20:28
