God's plan for man to be saved was a figure of cleansing
the soul from sin, in the passage Peter wrote, 1 Peter 3:12 "not for the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but
an answer of a good conscience toward God"

Baptism is for the remission of sins, Jesus told Nicodemas, John 3:5
"except ye be born of water and of spirit, ye cannot enter into the Kingdom of God"
Saul was told in Acts 22:16 "why terriest thou, arise and be baptised and wash
away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord"

On the day of Penticost in Acts 2, the apostles informed
the Jews, "Repent, and be baptised into the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost" The gife is not the Holy Ghost, but the way of salvation that comes through
Jesus Christ in obedience of his gospel plan that was broutht to us by
the Holy Ghost.
